Workers Compensation Documentation & Coding
Initial Injury
At present, there is no widely used system of coding guidelines for workers’ compensation clinical encounters that is specifically geared towards maximizing outcomes for both patient health and patient work
The recently released 2019 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule includes new documentation guidelines for office- and outpatient-based evaluation and management (E/M) services effective January 1, 2019.
NAOHP has identified a best practice template for documentation.
Our goal is to provide you with the overview of the documentation of an initial injury and the components for documenting an initial and follow up injury visit. and the recommendations for coding using the current coding guidelines of the CMS System.
Here’s what you’ll learn in this short and concise seminar:
· Discuss the documentation changes in the CPT E&M Coding. documentation
· Identify the components of an initial evaluation of the injured worker.
· Identify the specific recommendations for each component
· Identify the coding recommendations for initial injury.
· Identify the recommendations for follow up visit and the components.
· Identify the CPT E&M Coding recommendations for follow up visit.
